LSJ s.v. πρεσβε⋯ω II.3.b recorded, on the strength of Thuc. 5.39.2, the meaning ‘go as ambassador’ for the middle voice, in addition to the well-attested ‘send ambassadors’. The passage, however, does not on inspection support the meaning (see K. J. Dover, HCT 4.376 on Thuc. 6.104.2); it was deleted from the Supplement to LSJ.
