Classical Quarterly welcomes new Production Editor Marco Perale

Classical Quarterly has a new Production Editor, Marco Perale, joining the team. Marco is a Lecturer in Classics at the University of Liverpool currently on research leave at the Universitat de Barcelona. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and, currently, a Trustee of the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies. Catharine Edwards, Chair of the Classical Association’s Journals Board, said: “We’re so pleased to welcome Marco both to Classical Quarterly and to the CA Journals team; we’re very much looking forward to working with him!”

Marco’s main area of expertise is literary papyrology and fragmentary poetry. He has collaborated with the several papyrological collections worldwide, including the Oxyrhynchus Papyri in Oxford, the Vitelli Institute in Florence, and the Carlsberg Collection in Copenhagen. He is the author of Adespota Papyracea Hexametra Graeca (De Gruyter, 2020) as well as numerous articles and book chapters on the transmission and circulation of Greek literature in the Graeco-Roman world.

He began as joint production editor with The Classical Quarterly in December 2023. “I am delighted to join CQ’s team and learn from such a stellar team of editors, whose scholarly work I have always admired. My job will be to copy-edit and oversee the production of articles and shorter notes in the different areas of Classics, broadly conceived, including Greek and Latin language, literature, history and philosophy. I will also help run CQ’s new X account (@CQ_journal).

It truly is a real privilege for me to be able to read and review scholarship of the highest calibre, and be involved in the editorial decision-making process. I will do my best to ensure the journal continues to enjoy the high reputation it has internationally and contribute to its continued success”.
