A Result on Sums of Squares

In this note we give an elementary proof of the following.
Let be an integer. n≥1 Then, every positive even integer less than or equal to n(n2—1)/3 can be expressed as a sum ofn squares of integers from the set {0, 1, 2, …, n - 1}.
