Summary abstract

The book identifies the three distinct but related aspects of Educational Gerontology, specifically, educational opportunities for older people, education about aging for the general population, and education of professionals and para-professionals who work with the elderly. The first aspect, education for older people—including pre-retirement preparation—is emphasized. The volume has an international character with contributions from Britain, the United States, Denmark and Canada.

L'ouvrage précise les trois aspects distincts mais apparentés de la formation en gérontologie, soit l'enseignement destiné aux personnes âgées, l'enseignement destiné au public et concernant les personnes âgées, enfin la formation des professionnels et paraprofessionnels travaillant auprès des personnes âgées. L'accent porte sur le premier aspect, l'enseignement destiné aux personnes âgées–y compris la préparation à la retraite. Les communications de la Grande-Bretagne, des États-Unis, du Danemark et du Canada confèrent à l'ouvrage un caractère international.
