TAXONOMY OF LAST-INSTAR LARVAL REMAINS OF PARASITES REARED FROM SPILONOTA OCELLANA

Abstract

An illustrated key to the last-instar larval cephalic structures of parasites reared from larvae of Spilonota ocellana (D. & S.), notes on habits of the parasites, and a description of their cocoons and pupae are given. Rearing techniques are described. The parasites reared are Gelis tenellus (Say), Hyposoter sp., Meteorus argyrotaeniae Johansen, Phanerotoma recurvariae Cush., Apanteles sp., Agathis dimidiator (Nees.), Euderus cushmani Cwfd., and Sympiesis bimaculatipennis (Grlt.).

Résumé

Nous présentons ici une clé illustrée de la cuticule larvaire et nymphale des parasites du pique-bouton du pommier, Spilonota ocellana (D. & S.), collectionnés et élevés dans les environs d'Ottawa. Nous sommes parvenus à présenter cette clé grâce à nos notes d'observations et de préparations histologiques de chaque espèce de parasite. Les parasites obtenus sont : Gelis tenellus (Say), Hyposoter sp., Meteorus argyrotaeniae Johansen, Phanerotoma recurvariae Cush., Apanteles sp., Agathis dimidiator (Nees.), Euderus cushmani Cwfd. et Sympiesis bimaculatipennis Grlt.
