Revision of the genus Hyppa (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) with description of a new species

Abstract

The species of the genus Hyppa Duponchel are revised and a new species is described. Adults of all species are illustrated, as are male and female genitalia where known. A neotype is designated for Hadena ancocisconensis Morrison. The concept of Hyppa contrasta is modified from that of a southern Appalachian endemic to that of a common transcontinental species.

Résumé

Les espèces du genre Hyppa Duponchel sont révisées et une nouvelle espèce est décrite. Nous illustrons les adultes de toutes les espèces de même que les organes génitaux males et femelles si possible. Un néotype est désigné pour Hadena ancocisconensis Morrison. Le concept d' Hyppa contrasta est modifié: au lieu d'être une espèce endémique des Appalaches méridionales, il s'agit d'une espèce transcontinentale commune.
