A NEW SPECIES OF PYCNOGLYPTA THOMSON (COLEOPTERA: STAPHYLINIDAE) FROM EASTERN CANADA

Abstract

Pycnoglypta aptera, a new species of omaliine staphylinid, is described and compared with the Holarctic species Pycnoglypta lurida (Gyllenhal). Scanning electron photomicrographs, line drawings, and a key are provided to distinguish the species.

Résumé

L'auteur décrit Pycnoglypta aptera, une nouvelle espèce de staphylin de la sous-famille des Omallinés, et la compare à l'espèce holarctique Pycnoglypta lurida (Gyllenhal). Des photographies prises au microscope électronique à balayage, des dessins et une clé sont fournis pour aider à reconnaître l'espèce.
