Helina richardi (Diptera: Muscidae), a remarkable new species from the Mediterranean subregion

Abstract

Helina richardisp. nov. is described from Morocco and Spain. The presence of setulae at the base of vein R4+5 suggests placement in Mydaea Robineau-Desvoidy but other characters and the structure of the female ovipositor indicate that it is otherwise a typical species of Helina Robineau-Desvoidy.

Résumé

Helina richardisp. nov. est décrit du Maroc et de l'Espagne. La présence de sétules à la base de la nervure R4+5 laisse penser qu'il devrait être inséré dans le genre Mydaea Robineau-Desvoidy, mais les autres caractères et la structure de l'ovipositeur de la femelle montrent qu'il s'agit par ailleurs d'une espèce typique d’Helina Robineau-Desvoidy.
