Dermanyssus gallinoides n. sp. (Mesostigmata: Laelaptoidea: Dermanyssidae), an Acarine Parasite of Woodpeckers in Western North America1

Abstract
Dermanyssus gallinoides is described as a new species of mite. It is parasitic on a sapsucker in British Columbia and has been collected from the nests of a red-shafted flicker and Lewis’ woodpecker in Colorado.
