Taxonomy and nomenclature of Eremasiomyia macularis and Miltogramma maroccana (Diptera: Sarcophagidae: Miltogramminae)

Abstract

The nominal taxon Tachina macularis Wiedemann is revised and redescribed from the adult and first instar larva. It is transferred from its current status as a valid species of Protomiltogramma Townsend to a position as a valid species of Eremasiomyia Rohdendorf, comb. nov. and senior synonym of Setulia luteicornis Villeneuve, syn. nov., Eremasiomyia setulioides Rohdendorf, syn. nov., and Eremasiomyia orientalis Verves, syn. nov. The nominal species Sphecapatodes maroccana Séguy is revised and redescribed from the adult, and is shown to belong to Miltogramma Meigen, comb. nov. The nominal genus-group taxon Capnopteron Rohdendorf was originally proposed as a subgenus of Miltogramma with the type species Miltogramma maculigerum Speiser sensu Rohdendorf). However, the latter is shown to be a misidentification of Miltogramma maroccana (Séguy), which herewith is fixed as the type species of Capnopteron.

Résumé

Nous révisons le taxon nominal Tachina macularis Wiedemann et le décrivons à nouveau à partir de l'adulte et de la larve de premier stade. Nous le transférons de son statut actuel d'espèce valide de Protomiltogramma Townsend à une position d'espèce valide d’Eremasiomyia Rohdendorf, comb. nov. et de synonyme plus ancien de Setulia luteicornis Villeneuve, syn. nov., d'Eremasiomyia setulioides Rhodendorf, syn. nov. et d'Eremasiomyia orientalis Verves, syn. nov. Nous révisons aussi l'espèce nominale Sphecapatodes maroccana Séguy et la redécrivons à partir de l'adulte; elle appartient à Miltogramma Meigen, comb. nov. Le groupe-genre nominal Capnopteron Rohdendorf a été proposé à l'origine comme un sous-genre de Miltogramma avec comme espèce type Miltogramma maculigerum Speiser sensu Rohdendorf. Cependant cette dernière espèce s'avère être une mauvaise identification de Miltogramma maroccana (Séguy) que nous désignons ici comme l'espèce type de Capnopteron.
