Observations on Arthropod Predators of the European Pine Shoot Moth, Rhyacionia buoliana (Schiff.) (Lepidoptera: Olethreutidae), in Ontario

In studies on introduced parasites of the European pine shoot moth, Rhyacionia buoliana (Schiff.), in Waterloo County Reforestation Area, near Elmira, Ontario, casual observations showed that some stages of the shoot moth were attacked and eaten by several arthropods. Preliminary studies were initiated in 1958 on population estimates and feeding activity of five predatory groups and were resumed on a larger scale in 1959 with six groups. Results of these studies are described below.
