This species has long been lost sight of. It was described nearly sixty years ago from a single male “in good condition”. I never have heard of its forming part of any collection except that of the British Museum, and my own, and my specimens—a male and a female—were sent me from the Museum more than twenty years agp. In his Catalogue fo the Satyridæ, 1868, Mr. Butler says of this species: “We do not pposses the type, but our specimens agree exactly with Mr. Curtis's description.”
