FIRST RECORD OF THE MITE FAMILY PODOCINIDAE (ACARI: MESOSTIGMATA) IN CANADA, WITH NOTES ON OTHER RECORDS IN NORTH AMERICA

Abstract

Collection of Podocinum pacificum Berlese from southeastern Ontario represents the first record of the mite family Podocinidae in Canada. Other distribution records including the northerly extent of this species in North America are discussed.

Résumé

La capture de Podocinum pacificum Berlese au sud-est de l’Ontario représente la première mention canadienne d’acariens appartenant à la famille Podocinidae. On discute de l’aire de distribution établie par d’autres captures ainsi que de l’extension septentrionale de cette espèce en Amérique du Nord.
