Extract

I have read with some interest Dr. Wasmann's “Last Reply” in the March number of this journal (page 74), and hasten to say that I was by no means “angry” when I wrote the answer referred to. I was only pained to think that a man of Dr. Wasmann's eminence in the scientific world would stoop to send to a colleague a specimen without marks of any kind for identification, in order to have him commit himself to an opininon when deprived of the subtle influence of at least a locality label.
