Extract

A few months ago, I spent sorne time over the rich collection of drawings by Abbott, now in the British Museum. Thinking that some of his memoranda may not be unacceptable to the readers of your magazine. I transcribe the substance of what is written on those butterflies which occur in the North as well as in the South, no copy of the others having been taken. The botanical names of the plants have, in most cases, been inserted in the MSS. by some subsequent student; those which bear the initials A.W.C., are due to the kindness of Dr. Chapman.
