Footnotes

1

The charge on Much Dewchurch bears the same proportion to the hundred charge (assuming a £120 charge on Llangarren) as the charge in the 1677 assessment. It does not seem possible that the valuation has been miscopied. A deliberate doubling of the charge apparently due must therefore be assumed. The other charges are equal to or close to the proportions in the 1677 tax.
