The Cambridge Working Group for Bioethics Education in Serbia (SWG) was officially constituted on January 16, 2013, with a Steering Board and a Secretariat. The SWG has its seat at the Center for the Study of Bioethics of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade where it meets to discuss its polices and plan its projects.
The aim of the Working Group is to bring together leading local and international experts in the fields of philosophy, medicine, biology, sociology to advance and contribute to the development of bioethics education and research in Serbia. The potential activities of the SWG include: organizing lectures at the Center for the Study of Bioethics and at other academic institutions, designing ethics training courses for practitioners of the medical profession, developing courses for members of ethics committees and the public at large, facilitating conferences and workshops for the academic community, and furthering individual and institutional bioethics projects, as well as research. The SWG will encourage the publication of this research on these activities, as well as materials that deal with bioethics education.
