Reports on the effectiveness of DDT applied to the limewashed interiors of buildings have been conflicting. This question is of importance in the tropics where so many European houses are limewashed. Laboratory tests recorded here were made to determine, firstly, how effective DDT was when applied to limewash, and, secondly, the cause of any loss of toxicity.
