Chris studied at Bradford Art College and The Institute of Education, London University. She has taught art at schools in the borough of Brent in London from the 1970s. The Covid-19 pandemic initiated a shift in her work towards a more prolifi c, colourful and exultant style which she adopted to counteract the fear and negativity which was dominating life outside her studio. She used complementary and discordant colours producing dramatic pieces that intend to bring joy to the viewer. For this series, she started with depicting the bare branches of trees that she viewed outside her window and built up bold shapes inspired by the renewal of nature which the trees represented for her. Her work has been exhibited in the Willesden Gallery in the Library at Willesden Green in London.
