(1) Permission to excavate was readily given by the landowner, Mr Thomas Robinson, Knowth House. The work was financed by a State grant (administered through the Royal Irish Academy and the Special Employment Schemes Office). Trinity College, Dublin, also gave financial assistance.

(2) The nearby site at Townleyhall (Eogan, , Journal of the Royal Society of Antiguaries of Ireland, 93 (1963), figs. 11 and 12) provides an almost exact parallel for this tomb.Google Scholar
