page 102 note 1 One of these readings is probably to be preferred to cocatvs, with M. Raymond Terrisse. A recently discovered example from Rocester suggests the knowformer reading. Cf. icotasgvs on Romano-British mortaria and many names in ico- recorded by Holder (Alt-Celtischer Sprachschatz, s.v.).

page 102 note 4 Ibid., p. 265 lists five (se]nnivs should there be substituted for a]nnivs), and at least two more may be added, namely cintvsmvs, who also bought moulds from other potters, and a man who stamped (Karnitsch, Die Reliefsigillatavon Ovilava, Taf. 72, 1).

page 102 note 9 Rev. arch. du Centre, ii, 287, fig. 30 for a bowl from Les Martres with the common large retrograde stamp abundantly represented at Lezoux. The matter is complicated by the presence at Les Martres of an (earlier) homonym.
page 103 note 1 At least one Lezoux example has the stamp of casvrivs inside the mould with rebvrri cut after firing on the basal exterior. The graffito also appears on unstamped moulds in the style of casvrivs.
page 103 note 2 Cf. the signature variously read c. ivl. Vibivs or vibinvs, gelenvs or geminvs (C.G.P., pls. 65–66). The last reading seems clear on a Richborough fragment in the usual style. One of the bowls has the additional signature CA. Another in the same style has what looks like ivlni. The additional signatures were perhaps cut by owners of the moulds.
