The Production and Consumption of Text*

Extract
The inventions of writing and printing constitute the first two revolutions in information recording and transmission. The current development of electronic management of text, somewhat prefigured by Remington and the typewriter, consitutes a third revolution. This article deals with the current state of play in text production and consumption in the specific context of electronic text production and comsumption.
