En marge : ce livre de Rachel Ertel, Geneviève Fabre et Élise Marienstras sur les minorités aux Etats-Unis est d'une grande richesse, à la fois par sa documentation et par le' nombre d'interrogations auxquelles il tente de répondre. Livre d'autant plus important que sur ce sujet fondamental pour l'analyse de la société américaine, rien n'a été écrit en France depuis Les États-Unis d'Aujourd'hui d'André Siegfried (1927) et L'Histoire Sociale et Politique du Peuple Américain de Désiré Pasquet (1931). Enfin et surtout, En marge pose le problème des minorités dans une perspective totalement différente de celle des travaux universitaires américains.
