A note on the velocity of ultrasound in living tissue

Summary

The velocity of sound through the limbs of living animals and through tissue excised from carcasses has been measured. The measurements are compared with calibration velocities recommended by the manufacturers of two sonar instruments used to measure the position of tissue boundaries in animals.
