The original is in the University of Texas Library, Latin American Manuscripts, no. 696, IV pt., folios 1138v–1139 (the entire entry on Plaza takes up folios 1136–1139; we have omitted the biographical data and the titles of the authorities who have written about him, and give merely the author’s list of his writings). On this manuscript see: CastañedaC.E. and DabbsJ.A.Guide to the Latin American Manuscripts in the University of Texas Library (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1939), p. 58.

7 Such is still the numbering of the folios today in the original manuscript, Bancroft Library, MM 268.

8 Again, these are the identical folios given in the index at the beginning of the volume (Bancroft Library, MM 266), but are missing from among the corresponding documents.

9 These are called “Memoriales” in the original manuscript and are preserved there (Bancroft Library, MM 268, folios 156–172vbis).
