The instrument of ratification by Canada was deposited with the following observation: “That ratification by Canada of the Convention extends to Newfoundland, and that any claims Canada may have in regard to the limits of territorial waters or to the jurisdiction over fisheries, particularly as a result of the entry of Newfoundland into Confederation, will not be prejudiced.”
