This is an open invitation to archaeologists from every walk of life! Submit your work!
American Antiquity has always been a product of the SAA membership – the journal can only work with manuscripts that are submitted. While the Editor (Deb Martin) and the Editorial Board (Stephen Acabado, Sabrina Agarwal, Michael Blakey, Lewis Borck, Craig Cipolla, Alan Farahani, Ayana Flewellen, Marie Franklin, Sara Gonzalez, Lindsay Mongomery, Paulette Steeves, Kathleen Sterling and Barb Voss) along with the Associate Editor for Reviews (Chris Rodning) solicit and extend invitations to submit to a wide range of archaeologists, the editorial staff can only work with studies and authors who actually submit. Almost all submissions go through peer review and thoughtful consideration. If you do not see something of interest in the journal, please consider submitting your work.
In thinking about the potential impact of American Antiquity articles on the direction and future of archaeology, we offer free access (where not already open access) to selected articles on big ideas and global significance. We also suggest a few studies that highlight the usefulness of new methodologies and articles that utilize innovative theoretical frameworks. Finally, we offer select self-studies that will result in better professional standards of behavior, more inclusive engagement and less reliance on the “isms” that affect the relevance of the journal (e.g., sexism, racism, elitism, and homophobia). You'll find them all below.
