Sustainable Aerospace
Air travel adversely affects the environment in three main ways, the noise and air pollution experienced by communities near airports and the contribution of air travel to climate change. Of these, the impact on climate is the most important and the most challenging. Over the 20 years since Greener by Design was launched, at the initiative of the Royal Aeronautical Society and its partners, the need to reduce the environmental impact of aviation has become increasingly important to policy makers and an increasing challenge to aircraft designers and operators and to atmospheric scientists. This collection of papers from the Aeronautical Journal captures some of the research done to address the challenge.
