Amplification of Soft X-Rays in a Picosecond Laser-Produced Plasma

Abstract
We investigate the possibilities of amplification of soft x rays in a low Z plasma produced by a picosecond laser. Inversion of population could take place between metastable and fundamental state of lithium-like ions.
