Getting Accurate Intensity Values from Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectra Using Fixed Energy Windows

Most integration of peaks in energy dispersive X-ray spectra is carried out using fixed energy “windows” or “regions of interest” set in terms of channels in the multi-channel analyzer (whether of the hardware or software based type). This gives rise to two sources of error that can be very significant hut can each be corrected with modest calculation effort.
