Edmund L. Gettier III (1927-2021) was a professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is best known for his short 1963 article "Is Justified True Belief Knowledge?" published in Analysis, which generated an extensive philosophical response to what became known as the Gettier problem.
To celebrate his life and contribution to the field of epistemology we have made the following book chapters and articles, on Gettier’s work, free to read until the end of May.
