Summary
In this chapter, I shall try to introduce to you some basic terminology in social network analysis, as well as give you an overview of some of the basic concepts that you will find throughout this book. This chapter will provide the reader with sufficient knowledge and terminology to be able to comprehend the following chapters.
Please note that there are a number of good textbooks and handbooks on the market that offer a thorough introduction to the social network analysis. I recommend the following books for those interested in learning more about social network analysis: de Nooy et al. (2005), Prell (2011), Wasserman and Faust (1994), and Scott (2000).
