Summary
[At the cost of Dr. Thomas Frank, Archdeacon of Bedford from 1704 to 1731, the Terriers or Inventories of Church Property taken soon after his installation were copied into two handsome volumes, which have been deposited in the County Muniment Rooms with other early documents of the Archdeaconry. From these, Mr. L. H. Chambers has extracted particulars of the Bells and Clocks, which have been put into tabular form for easy reference, and should prove interesting alike to the local historian and the campanologist. The original spelling of the parish names and of the notes has been retained. In the case of parishes which do not appear in the list below, either no Terrier appears in Archd. Frank's volumes, or no return as to Bells was made ; it must not be inferred that no Bells were there.—Ed.]
