Summary
The Allied Fact Finding Mission in the Sea of Marmara was a political operation whose aim was to trivialize or conceal massacres and atrocities by the Greek occupiers on local Muslim populations. A ICRC delegate, Maurice Gehri, had a different opinion and accomplished his humanitarian duties in an exemplary way despite the very limited resources at his disposal. The role of photographs as evidence of the massacre is part of the story.
