Summary
This chapter discusses the African system for the protection of human rights within the African Union. It examines the roles and functions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and other African human rights bodies in promoting and protecting human rights on the continent. The chapter explores the legal and institutional framework of the African human rights system, the challenges faced in its implementation, and the efforts to enhance the effectiveness and accessibility of human rights mechanisms in Africa.
