Summary
My dear Maître,
I was sorry not to have been able to see you, and to leave without having said my goodbyes. So, I come to thank you with all my soul, for your good care and your kindness to me. I owe you everything, and my gratitude will be eternal.
I hope very much that you will come to honor our city with your presence; my parents have asked me to tell you that there is always a room waiting for you in our home. How much you would please us to visit it!
Goodbye, my dear Maître, please accept once again the thanks from your respectful and grateful student.
Ch. M. Widor
