Summary

Counter-roll of Adam of Chesterfield, controller of the king's works at the palace of Westminster and Tower of London, for the expenditure of Thomas of Stapleford, the king's clerk of works at the same, on building at Westminster.

Physical description: A roll of four membranes, sewn end-to-end; the top of m. 1 is heavily stained with gall, but mostly legible with the aid of an ultraviolet lamp; the rest of the document is in reasonable condition and wholly legible.

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to St Stephen's chapel, and the possible construction of an entrance to it.
