Summary

Account roll (compotus) of John of Norton, the king's clerk of works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, for his expenditure on building works at Westminster.

Physical description: Roll of one membrane; in good condition and wholly legible.

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to building works in St Stephen's chapel, the masons’ lodge, and the houses of the king's chaplains and clerks in the palace of Westminster.

Collated roll:

E 101/469/2, the counter-roll of John de Vyene, controller of the king's works at the palace of Westminster and the Tower of London, has been collated with this roll.

Physical description: Roll of two membranes, sewn end-to-end; in good condition and wholly legible.

Scope of transcription: Entries relating to building works in St Stephen's chapel, the masons’ lodge, and the houses of the king's chaplains and clerks in the palace of Westminster have been collated.
