Thirty-Two patients who had surgical excision of a nasal dermoid in child-hood are reported. The patients are discussed according to the histological diagnosis and the extent of tissue involvement at the time of surgery. The results of surgery are acceptable in the majority of patients. However, a patient with a ‘complex’ ‘true’ nasal dermoid lesion is more likely to be dis-satisfied with the result of surgical excision. Parents should therefore be forewarned of the possible outcome of surgery for nasal for dermoid lesions in children.

Twenty-two cases of carcinoma of the head and neck (predominantly squamous), in a veriety of sites, were treated with an oncolytic regime of Adriamycin and Bleomycin. Adjuvant hyperthermia was given to all cases; differing techniques of drug administration were used, depending on whether a case had received previous irradiation. Twenty-one cases showed response to treatment. Post-irradiation cases fared less well than those in which radiotherapy was synchronised with treatment.

This paper describes the management of patients undergoing synchronous combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy at King's College Hospital. It is based on the experience of treating 96 patients with carcinoma of the head and neck between 1974–1978.

A detailed account is given of the method of conducting the treatment. The routine assessment, investigations and follow-up are described, together with the complications due to individual drugs and general effects of combined therapy and their management. Great stress is laid on the need for active, intensive nursing care of these patients.
