According to press reports, a meeting of the permanent Council of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on March 10, 1960, announced the full support of the Council for the Western disarmament plan providing for progressive nuclear and conventional disarmament in three stages which was to be presented at the ten-nation disarmament conference the following week.
