THE TYPES OF THE LATE DR. HULST

Extract

I am glad that Mr. Taylor has shown in the Feb. Can. Ent. that the “types” of Somatolophia umbripennis and Diastictis festa in the Hulst collection at New Brunswick, N. J., are not the true types. A specimen that contradicts the description cannot be the type, however labelled, unless it can be shown that the author has made an error. I do not think that Dr. Hulst made errors in description in these cases, and I do not think either that the true types were destroyed as Mr. Taylor suggests.
