Summary

Peace, Peace, a thing so dear to all mankind.

Whose meaning and looks are true and kind,

Whose reign on earth are known to two,

Adam and Eve, who flouted her law,

To live and reign like gods on earth.

Come, come, for voices are drowned in fear,

When we remember the day of thy wrath.

Peace, Peace, where livest thou now?

Or hast thou fled the earth?

Where once thy glory and honour stood,

Before that Dupe severed man from you.

Listen now to our shameful call

In this tormenting age of rage,

When every atom splits in space

And leaves mankind for ever daunted.

Peace, Peace, we pray thee once again.

Forget for ever those sins of old,

Which veiled that sacred face from all mankind.

Send again that soothing breath of health,

To heal mankind from mortal fear,

And reign again with thy calm glory

On this deserted world of woe,

Sailing on the seas of our common foe.

Peace, Peace, thou hope of mankind,

King of heaven and Lord of earth.

Forgive thy erring sons and daughters,

And deliver them from their own created fears.

Lord of earth show us again thy kindness,

And lead us to thy former kingdom of old

Where mankind can find glory in thy presence.
