The archbishop's mandate

Willelmus [permissione divina Eboracensis archiepiscopus, Angliae primas et apostolicae sedis legatus,] dilecto in Christo filio officiali curiae nostrae Eboracensis salutem, gratiam et benedictionem. Quia quaedam ardua et urgentia negotia statum et libertatem ecclesiae nostrae metropoliticae concementia concilium nostrum die veneris proximo post synodum nostram Michaelis [5 October 1453] in ecclesia nostra praedicta per Dei gratiam intendimus celebrare, in quo, divina assistente dementia, de communi consilio praelatorum et cleri nostrae diocesis super praemissis ordinari poterit remedium salutare, vobis mandamus quatenus citetis seu citari faciatis omnes et singulos abbates, priores proprios abbates non habentes, tarn exemptos quam non exemptos, necnon omnes archidiaconos in cathedrali nostra praedicta et capitula omnium et singulorum ecclesiarum et collegiorum eiusdem nostrae diocesis, clerumque spiritualitatis de Howden et Howdenshire, de Allerton et Allertonshire, ac praepositum ecclesiae nostrae collegiatae Beati Iohannis Beverlaci et clerum praepositurae eiusdem, totumque clerum nostrae diocesis, quod iidem abbates, priores, archidiaconi et praepositus personaliter, singula vero cpaitula per unum et clerus cuiuslibet archidiaconatus seu iurisdictionis per duos sufficientes procuratores praedicto die Veneris, cum continuatione et prorogatione dierum sequentium et locorum si oporteat, coram nobis seu commissariis nostris in ecclesia nostra cathedrali Eboracensi praedicta compareant et sint praesentes in concilio nostro praedicto, super his quae totius ecclesiae praedictae ac eius necessitatem et utilitatem necessariam concernunt, tune inibi exponenda coram eis, consilium suum providum impensuri, facturique et recepturi quod ipsum sacrum concilium, divina cooperante providentia, duxerit ordinandum, eisdem expressius intimantes quod contra absentes in forma canonica procedemus, nullius sic absentis excusationem admissuri nisi quatenus ad hoc nos arctaverint canonicae sanctiones. Denuntiantes insuper seu denuntiari facientes in genere ceteris omnibus qui gravatos se censerint, quod in casibus illis quorum correctio seu reformatio ad concilium huiusmodi pertinere dignoscuntur, audientia efficax per divinam clementiam eis in forma debita concedetur et fiet in omnibus nisi ac complementum. De die vero receptionis praesentium et qualiter hoc mandatum nostrum fueritis executi, necnon de nominibus abbatum, priorum, archidiaconorum, praepositi ac procuratorum conventuum, capitulorum, collegiorum et cleri praedictorum per vos in hac parte citatorum nos seu commissarios nostros citra dictum diem Veneris certificantes distincte et aperte per vestras literas patentes harum seriem continentes. Datum sub sigillo nostro in manerio nostro de Thorp iuxta Eboracum, tertio die mensis Augusti anno Domini millesimo CCCC quinquagesimo tertio nostrarumque consecrationis anno septimo et translationis secundo [3 August 1453].
