The archbishop's mandate for the convocation

Iohannes, permissione divina Eboracensis archiepiscopus, Angliae primas apostolicae sedis legatus, venerabili fratri nostro Domino Thomae Dei gratia Dunelmensi episcopo suffraganeo nostro salutem et fraternam in Domino caritatem. Breve regium nuper recepimus in haec verba:

Edwardus, Dei gratia rex Angliae et Franciae et dominus Hiberniae venerabili [in Christo] Iohanni, eadem gratia archiepiscopo Eboracensi Angliae primati, salutem. Qualiter negotia tam nos et statum regni nostri quam necessariam defensionem eisdem contingentia ac onera nobis propter hoc incumbent procuratoribus vestris ac praelatis in ultimo praeterito parliamento existentibus plenius exposuimus vos non latet ad quorum onerum supportationem absque adiutorio fidelium nostrorum non sufficimus sicut scitis, per quod aliquod subsidium congruum in suppeditationem clintorum onerum a vobis et aliis de clero dioecesis et provinciae vestrarum in dicto parliamento tune praesentibus nobis concedi petimus sicut urgens necessitas et evidens utilitas exposuit et nos pro dicto negotio quae salvationem tam dictae ecclesiae quam regni nostri Angliae concernentia matiuriori deliberatione valebat expediri vobis in fide ac dilectione quibus nobis tenemini rogando mandamus quod attentis tam tam arduitate negotiorum praedictorum quam praedicto quo pro defectu defensionis huius verisimiliter evenire possent, et suffraganeos vestros decanos et priores ecclesiarum cathedralium, abbates et priores et alios electivos exemptos et non exemptos, necnon archidiaconos et capitula conventus et collegia totumque clerum cuiuslibet dioecesis dictae vestrae provinciae ad comparendum coram vobis in ecclesia cathedrali Beati Petri Eboracensis vel alibi prout expedire videritis ad breviorem diem quern poteritis, more solito convocari faciatis et expositis eis dictis negotiis ibidem congruos ad aliquod competens subsidium nobis in auxilium supportationis dictorum onerum concedendum cum efficacitate mandatis et partes vestras ad hoc effectualiter apponatis, nos de qualitate subsidii illius ac de termino solutionis eiusdem certificando hoc sicut nos et honorem nostrum ac salvationem et defensionem regni et ecclesiae diligitis nullatenus omittatis. Teste meipso apud Westmonasterium undecimo die Octobris anno regni nostri Angliae quadragesimo tertio et regni nostri Franciae tricesimo [11 October 1369].
