Summary
Section 2 considers the impact of recent and current reader development schemes and outlines possibilities for new projects. It commences with a discussion of partnerships in reader development, moves on to methods for making literature accessible to all, then discusses how one library authority's ideas on reader development changed over time. The section concludes with a very moving personal account of setting up ‘Getting Into Reading’, and the benefits to individuals and libraries of participating in such a scheme.
This section gives a wide perspective on the benefits to libraries, partners and individuals of participating in reader development schemes. It describes and evaluates a range of activities and provides an insight into the benefits and implications of setting up a scheme. It can also be used as a template for developing and evaluating new reader development activities.
