Summary
October 28th
Dear Merry,
How is life out there? How are your studies?
What about me? The loneliness is eventually going to kill me, I think. Do you know anybody who died of loneliness? I hope I will not be the first one.
Utrecht seems a neighbor to Heaven. Looking at the vast sky in Utrecht, I feel like the frog out of the well. Everything looks magnificent. Life is the way I used to dream about – but you know, recently I started to miss my people, to miss Habesha. It is amazing. Back there, I used to hate Habesha, and I used to pray never to see them again. God answered my prayers, and here I am in Utrecht. I still have not seen any Habesha since I’ve been here. But the most amazing thing happened, and in the past few days I experienced the true meaning of the famous saying: ‘You cannot live with them, and you cannot live without them.’ I miss Habesha so much – but still, I do not want to go back there now. So it seems that, from now on, I have only one option left: stop hating, and start loving people as they are.
I await your reply.
