Summary

Newborn babies rarely require resuscitation. Of those who need assistance following birth, most require only simple measures to achieve the cardiopulmonary transition from fetal to neonatal life. However, some babies need urgent attention at delivery, and in such cases prompt resuscitation, even of those babies without apparent signs of life at birth, will result in a significant number of healthy survivors without disability.
