Summary
The following notes respecting the previous owners of some of the manuscripts, as indicated by the heraldic charges in them, are contributed by Mr A. Van de Put of the Victoria and Albert Museum:—
46. The greyhounds for Wigmore, the three combs on a bend for Combe, the doubleheaded eagle for Mytton, the three rams for Sydenham, the three martlets sable on a bend argent cotised upon gules for Hilton, Hinton or Hynton. I have been unable to trace the marriage of Wigmore—Mytton of which the sixth coat is evidence.
54. Azure a sun or, charged in the centre with a lion rampant gules. The shield is ensigned with an abbot's hat sable and is placed upon a crozier or, and is perhaps that of Bilches or Vilches, of the Jaen district of Andalusia.
63. f. 1. Or six annuletsgu. (Illiers) quarteringgu. a chief arg.
(f. 84.) Or six annulets gu. dimidiated with sable a bordure arg.
(f. 268.) Quarterly: 1–4, or six annulets gu. (Illiers); 2, paley of six or and gu.: 3, or a lion rampant sa. (Coutes), charged upon the shoulder with a (label?) gu.; over all, arg. a chief gu. and a lion rampant az. (Vendôme), charged upon the shoulder with a fleur-de-lys or.
