Summary
Solomon Luria’s Yam shel Shelomoh was an ambitious work by any account. Returning to the talmudic sources, tracing over a thousand years of often labyrinthine legal history, culling the central legal discussions, and then deciding which among them was correct and should be followed in practice was nothing less than a herculean task.
