Summary

Regiomontanus 28.3°S, 1.0°W

Regiomontanus is an irregularly shaped feature, hardly still recognizable as a complex crater of about 130 × 108 km. The central peak, to the north and lying nearly on the edge of the crater Purbach, towers about 1.2 km above the crater floor. Right on top of the highest peak is a small impact crater. This crater is known as Regiomontanus A, and has a diameter of 5.6 km.

Aliacensis 30.6°S, 5.2°E

A crater, 80 km in diameter, with a smooth, level floor. The small point of a central peak is still detectable. In its morphology, it closely resembles the crater Abulfeda.

Purbach 25.5°S, 1.9°W

One of the smaller complex craters, diameter 115 km, directly adjoining the northern crater wall of Regiomontanus. Its northern wall (reaching just 3 km above the crater floor) is broken by Purbach G (27 km). On the eastern crater floor there are numerous craterlets and right in the centre is Purbach W (20 km), which appears like a circular flat depression and is heavily eroded. Purbach A, well-preserved, lies directly to its south.

Walther 33.1°S, 1.0°E

Walther is a large and well-preserved complex crater, with a diameter of 138 km, lying directly east of Deslandres. On the eastern floor of the crater is a prominent mountain massif, which is overlapped by larger craters (the largest is Walther A, with a diameter of 12 km).
